Samsung Galaxy S6 Slow Charging After Software Update Issue & Other Related Problems

Verizon is now rolling out a new firmware update to Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets in the U.S. Upon installing the OTA update, the existing build version of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow changes to G920VVRU4CPD2 and G925VVRU4CPD2 for S6 and S6 Edge, respectively.

GSM Arena says the OTA update might take a few days before it hits all Galaxy S6 units under Verizon. Nevertheless, by navigating to Settings -> About device -> Software updates, S6 owners can manually check for the update.

The firmware update contains fixes to Google Play Store app’s update and download issues, and Visual Voice Mail access issue. In addition, Google search option has been added to the handset’s settings menu. This software update comes bundled with May security patch as well.

To top it off, Amazon Music app has been removed. Plus, "Send Premium SMS" option has apparently been added to the Application manager settings.

After updating the device with the new firmware, when a user plugs a USB cable into the Galaxy S6 handset, by default it will show a slew of USB options like File Transfer, and USB charging, among others.

This software update also adds support to answer “video calls” as “voice calls.” By doing so, the call audio will apparently be routed to the earpiece. In comparison, when a device user answers as a video call, the audio will be routed via the speaker by default.

Furthermore, a new setting option will apparently let the device user know the RAM usage exhausted by apps, which will help determine how much is free. This can be accessed via Settings -> Applications -> Application manager -> More.

Following the update that brought FM radio playback to Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, T-Mobile has now begun rolling out another firmware update.

The file size is reportedly 42.99MB and the build version is G930TUVS3APD8. As the file size implies, this update does not contain any new feature additions. Instead, security related improvements have apparently been added. Nevertheless, this updates fixes an important vulnerability with the potential to delete the entire memory content of the Galaxy S7, GSM Arena reported.
