James Corden Ive Given Up Meat But Bread Is My Vice Now

James Corden has said he has recently eliminated meat from his diet, but that in doing so bread has now become his “vice”.

The actor, comedian and host of America’s The Late Late Show has also admitted that he is surprised about his success, more so than anybody else.

Corden told the Radio Times magazine that his “current vice is bread” because he has “given up eating meat”.

He said: “At Christmas, I read a story about the mistreatment of elephants and realised I was upset about animal welfare while eating a bacon sandwich.

“I thought, ‘Well, you really can’t be upset about elephants and not think about the pigs.’ I hope I can keep it up. I will certainly try.”

The star, who shed around six stone several years ago before taking up his role as a US chat show host, added: “I’m going to try to phase out fish next. It’s going to be a gradual process.”

The former Gavin And Stacey star, 39, also said that in his younger years he did not imagine he would become the star he is today.

“No one is more surprised than me,” he said of his achievements, which include a handful of Emmy Awards and a TV Bafta.

He said: “But I always knew I wanted to perform. The only time my school attendance record was 100% was when we were rehearsing a play.”

The full interview is in Radio Times, out now.
