Eden Hazard: Chelsea Need To Be In Top Four; Targets Champions League, FA Cup Wins

CHELSEA may need to sell Eden Hazard in order “to fund other transfers”, says former coach Steve Clarke.

Hazard was outstanding scoring the only goal of the game as the Blues beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Chelsea want Real Madrid target Hazard, 27, who has two years left on his deal, to commit his long-term future to Stamford Bridge.

But despite an eighth FA Cup triumph, Clarke reckons money generated by Hazard’s exit could actually help the club rebuild.

The Kilmarnock boss told 5 Live Sportsweek: “You can always look to replace players.

"They come and go, they always move on. The club is the most important thing.

Thibaut Courtois has urged Chelsea to splash the cash

"To help fund other transfers for the club this summer maybe they do have to sell Hazard.

"They have to rebuild that squad a little bit. It wasn't good enough to be in the top four.

"They have got a lot of work to do over the summer."

Keeper Thibaut Courtois has told Chelsea's top brass to invest in the squad.

The Belgian, 26, has a year left on his current deal and while urging the board to splash the cash, refused to confirm he will be a Chelsea player after the World Cup.

He said: "We'll see after the World Cup whether I am a Chelsea player for next year.

"You see how Manchester City and Manchester United are spending and working.

"If we want to aim for the top, we should do the same - obviously within the limits of what's possible.

"We'll see what's going on and I am sure the board will do what needs to be done."
