'We Were VERY Comfortable' Aston Villa Boss Steve Bruce's Verdict On Win Over Aitor Karanka's Nottingham Forest

Steve Bruce will put his players through their paces today before deciding on a starting line-up for the crunch clash with Blues.

Neil Taylor and Gabby Agbonlahor are the two major doubts but both will take part in the session to see if they are up to speed.

Left-back, Taylor, has missed the last two games with a groin injury and will only be risked if he convinces Bruce he is ready this afternoon.

Agbonlahor, meanwhile, has been on the sidelines for two months after pulling his hamstring in training back in January.

‘Gabby was in at 8.30am today so there must be a derby game this weekend,’ joked Bruce, in reference to the 30-year-old’s impressive record against rivals Blues.

‘First and foremost, we need him fit because it’s no use having him injured in such a big game.’

There’s a space available up front as Jonathan Kodjia is suspended for one game.

Scott Hogan will start but whether Bruce packs the midfield or opts for another striker, with Rushian Hepburn-Murphy also under consideration, remains to be seen.

Asked about Taylor’s injury, Bruce said:

‘We’ll check on him after today’s session. Then we’ll know more.’

Vila have no other injuries.

Birkir Bjarnason and Ritchie De Laet are still unavailable.
