2017 Chrysler Pacifica Software Glitch Forces Recall

Jan. 22--Fiat Chrysler Automobiles issued a recall for more than 162,000 Chrysler Pacifica minivans due to a potential software glitch that may cause the vehicle to stall.

The issues lies in the engine control module software, which may incorrectly assess the engine's operating status and cause it to stall under certain conditions.

Chrysler's recall includes 153,895 model year 2017 Pacifica minivans in the U.S., and another 8,676 around the world. Hybrid models are not affected by this software issue.

FCA US and Chrysler are aware of one accident that has been potentially linked to this issue.

To fix the problem, dealers will update the engine control software. However, the automaker has not said when the updated software would be available.

To find out if your vehicle is affected, or to check for any other outstanding recalls, enter your car's VIN on the NHTSA recall website.
