‘Darkest Hour’ Director Joe Wright And Wife Anoushka Shankar Split Up

The top British film director behind “Darkest Hour,” Joe Wright, and his wife, Anoushka Shankar, have parted ways, Page Six can exclusively reveal.

The separated couple had been together for seven years.

Shankar is the gorgeous sitar player and daughter of music legend Ravi Shankar and the half-sister of pop star Norah Jones.

A few months ago in August, she posted an old image of the couple happily together on Instagram captioned: “Exactly seven years ago, my wonderful husband asked me to marry him. It was all perfectly romantic, until my first morning sickness symptoms kicked in and I proceeded to vomit for the rest of the day This photo was taken a few weeks beforehand, on the day we found out we were having a baby.”

But just two days ago, another post of Shankar solo added ominously, “I said I loved you, and you heard me say you were not enough… you asked me to hold you tighter, and I heard you say I was not enough… how could we be enough for each other when we were never enough for ourselves? -new album idea scribblings #lyrics #newmusic #latenights.”

Perhaps the breakup will be the subject of her next album.

A rep for Wright exclusively told us in a statement from the couple, “I can confirm that Joe Wright and Anoushka Shankar recently ended their marriage. All parties are committed to the welfare and happiness of their two beautiful children and ask that their privacy be respected. No further comments will be made on this matter.”

The couple wed at an intimate ceremony in London in 2010 in front of close friends and family. They have two children together.

Before that, Wright was previously engaged to “Gone Girl” star Rosamund Pike but the wedding was called off in 2008.

Wright has been on the awards circuit leading up to the Oscars for his Winston Churchill drama that just won a Golden Globe on Sunday for Gary Oldman in the lead role. His credits also include literary film fare such as “Atonement,” “Pride & Prejudice” and “Anna Karenina.

Two years ago he reportedly said of Shankar in an interview: “We celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary recently, and it’s amazing to look back and see how we’ve developed emotionally and spiritually. I have never been happier.”
